We grow flowers on a small scale so we can bring beauty to our community that doesn’t cost the Earth

Our Story

Our family lives on Bundjalung country by the banks of the Richmond River in Northern NSW.

We started growing cut flowers in late 2014.

Early research led us to discover small scale farming practices and the challenges of flower farming in Australia.

Our subtropical growing climate is unique and through a wonderful little community of growers and many trials we are finding ways to have continuous flora through all seasons.

We are passionate about only selling flowers grown locally on small scale farms.

We can tell you the origin of every stem and the growing practises utilised to grow them.

Our flowers & foliage are all cut straight into buckets.

No single use plastic is used from field to vase.

Our Farm

We grow our annuals over a 1/2 acre field.

We use no dig growing principles, regularly adding organic inputs and using green manure crops to maintain soil biology. We plant our varieties in successional blocks and in a subtropical climate have the joy of having something in bloom all year long.

We grow our flowers using organic growing methods utilising foliage feeding and beneficial bugs as our main means of disease prevention and pest control.. another benefit to small scale growing.

We run courses on the basics of small scale cut flower growing, teaching the methods we use on our farm.

Musings on Our Little Flower Farm by Cate McQuillen

Creator of Dirtgirl World

“When I think of Our Little Flower Farm, I think of love, I think of flowers gathered with love and respect , grown by nature in the wild and free…sought after for their untamed hearts and beauty.

Not hothoused, not doused in chemicals , not wrapped in plastic…not the mass produced and artificially forced out of season blooms. Nor the generically packaged offerings that we have come to think of as gifts but really are no gift, as they leave a trail of woe behind them and a carbon footprint that our planet can no longer afford.

You won’t find any of that with these nature champions.

Our Little Flower Farm know the pressure that an industry has placed on the planet and have rejected that trajectory. Our Little Flower Farm understand the art of a bouquet, the beauty of the bunch ,the poetry of a posy, the simplicity of a lone bloom.

Their flowers know the whimsy of bygone days…a time when gifting flowers was proceeded by a roam in the garden with some snippers to choose whatever was in bloom, gathered in armfuls and laid on the bench to tell their story, bought together with some rough string or a left over piece of ribbon.

When I want to share love by sending flowers to someone who I am grateful to, or to celebrate success, to say happy birthday, or send well wishes, to say I’m sorry, or offer my heartfelt condolences …then it’s time for me to join hearts with  Hannah and her farmers and growers to create the perfect offering that cares for my intention and the planet’s future at the same time. And I love that”.
